An Interview With Dr. Lucy J. Barr , A Qualified Hair Restoration Surgeon For Moms In Salt Lake City

1. If a client has already had a transplant with another doctor and is disappointed with the results, can it be redone?

Yes. Touch up hair transplant procedures can be used to make a hair restoration look more natural, more dense, or even to change the hairline.

2. Is there a minimum age for hair loss surgery?

Ideally hair restoration surgery is delayed until you are at least 30 years old. Transplants can be performed at a younger age, but with precaution.

3. Won' t bare scalp be showing in the back of my head once the donor hair is taken?

You will not have any bare scalp at the back of your head. The donor hair is taken in a strip which is then closed. You will have a scar at the back of your scalp where the donor hair is taken from, but typically this is very narrow and easily concealed by surrounding hair.

4. Do you provide free consultation?

Absolutely. I spend time talking with all of my patients about all of the medical, non medical and surgical treatment options available. We will come up with a treatment plan specifically designed to meet each patient' s goals.

5. What type of information should be brought to the consultation?

It is helpful to bring the results of any laboratory work that has been obtained from other physicians. (thyroid studes, blood count, ferritin level, biopsy...)

6. Are lab tests required prior to surgery?

For women it is important to rule out a cause that is treatable without surgery. This will be determined at the time of the consultation.
